Millersburg's Ordinance differs significantly from traditional use-based codes. Millersburg's codes is based on the form-based zoning model. Under form-based codes, new construction must conform to certain design standards whereas in traditional use-based codes, sections of the municipality are set aside for certain uses. Form-based codes allow the flexibility of mixed types of land use while preserving the character of the community. Form-based codes also contribute to walkable communities because the codes does not force a separation between residential and commercial land uses.
If you are planning any new construction or demolition or planning to install a new sign, please contact the Borough Office to discuss permitting requirements. Please allow plenty of time for permitting as the Millersburg Planning Commission reviews all permits at their monthly meeting.
If your permit is denied, you have the right to appeal to the Zoning Hearing Board. The ZHB members are:
